‘Studio City’ earns 13 Indie Series Award nominations

The Emmy award-winning series “Studio City,” co-created by Sean Kanan, earned 13 Indie Series Award nominations this year.

The nominees for the 13th Annual Indie Series Awards were announced this past Wednesday in a special episode of Serial Scoop Now, which was hosted by Kira Reed Lorsch.

The 2023 Indie Series Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 12th at The Colony Theatre in Burbank, California.

The show is up for the coveted “Best Drama Series,” showrunner Timothy Woodward Jr. is nominated for “Best Director in a Drama Series,” while Michele Kanan, Sean Kanan and Timothy Woodward, Jr. scored nods for “Best Writing in a Drama Series.”

In the acting categories, Sean Kanan is nominated for “Lead Actor in a Drama Series” with Carolyn Hennesy vying for “Lead Actress in a Drama Series.”

Emmy winners Tristan Rogers and Justin Torkildsen are up for “Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” with Natalie Burn and Juliet Vega vying for “Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.” Lilly Melgar has also secured a nod for “Guest Performer in a Drama Series.”

“Studio City” is also up for “Best Ensemble in a Drama Series,” “Outstanding Cinematography in a Drama Series” (Pablo Diaz) and “Outstanding Editing in a Drama Series” (Fady Jeanbart).

“I’m truly honored to have been nominated for @ISAwards for @studiocity_show. Congratulations to everyone in my category and to my fellow Studio City cast and crew. Way to go gang! So proud of you,” Sean Kanan remarked in a social media post.
