Taylor Swift has done it again. The world’s biggest pop star somehow took an incredible amount of hype over her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, and made it look small in comparison to the actual event.

What was billed as a sixteen-track album for the standard version turned into a 31-track double album with a surprise 2AM Eastern Time release early Friday morning.

There were signs that something was coming at 2AM ET from Taylor Swift.

I think most assumed it would be a few bonus tracks for The Tortured Poets Department.  Instead, she delivered fifteen more songs under the album name The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.

Needless to say, this set the internet on fire. Fans were just getting calmed down and ready to go to bed after listening to the original version, which had a runtime of around an hour and five minutes. Now, millions of people are going to be up much later than they thought.

You know how during March Madness there are always articles about how much productivity the American economy loses due to people watching basketball during work? I’d like to know how much productivity will be lost on Friday because of people who had to stay up an extra hour to listen to these new songs.

Also, if you’re an artist that was hoping to get some songs to the top of the Billboard Charts in the near future, this is very bad news. Simply too much new music at once from the world’s biggest pop star for there to be much room at the top of charts.
