Simone Biles married Jonathan Owens back in April. They tied the knot a few months before the greatest gymnast of all-time made a triumphant return to the sport after a two-year hiatus and the Packers defensive back had to get back to work during training camp.
The athletic newlyweds have been in the news over the last few days after comments from Owens. Biles is tired of the narrative surrounding her husband and clapped back at the haters on social media.
Owens, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western, recently claimed that he “didn’t know who Biles was” when they first connected on the world’s most exclusive dating app, Raya. He “ain’t never really paid attention to gymnastics” so she was apparently not on his radar.
People were very quick to jump all over him on social media.
How is someone not familiar with Simone Biles?!
Well, as it would turn out, Owens might have been stretching the truth. His comments about Biles and a lack of knowledge about who she was may have been fabricated, or hyperbolized.
Owens tweeted about the United States’ gymnastics team back in August of 2012. That was right at the peak of Biles’ dominant run at the Olympic Games in London.
Was he lying about his prior familiarity with his current wife? Maybe, maybe not.
Either way, the legendary gymnast does not appreciate how people are speaking about her husband!
She shared multiple posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the ongoing narrative. Biles is frustrated by the way Owens’ comments are being construed.
While her frustration is understandable, it is rather hard to imagine that a prominent athlete like Jonathan Owens was completely unaware of Simone Biles. He was either speaking holistically and did not mean his words to be taken literally, lied, or lives under a rock!
