On Sunday, April 28, an “80’s Dance Party” event was held at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island, which featured the ladies of “General Hospital.”

The four actresses that appeared in this event, hosted by Coastal Entertainment, were Emmy award-winning actresses Laura Wright, Finola Hughes, and Cynthia Watros, as well as young actress Tabyana Ali. They all star on the ABC daytime drama “General Hospital.”

Dancing to ’80s hits and music with the fans

A DJ played some of the biggest hits of the ’80s such as Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock ‘N Roll,” Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” and Irene Cara’s enthralling “Flashdance…What A Feeling.”

It was neat to watch Tabyana Ali in her ’80s outfit dancing along with the fans, and singing along to some of these classics.

The same holds true for Finola Hughes while she danced to the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive,” which was included in the movie “Saturday Night Fever.” (Hughes also appeared in the sequel called “Staying Alive,” where she played Laura)

“This is super fun and a great time,” Laura Wright admitted. “This East Coast tour has been a sweet treat. Thank you so, so much,” Wright added, prior to encouraging the fans to ask questions during the Q & A portion of the show.

Titling their own autobiography books

If they were to title their own autobiographies, Hughes said that hers would be called “Giddy.” “It would be a long story; you would have to read it,” Hughes said with a sweet laugh.

Tabyana Ali would title hers “Form & Flower.” “What my character, Nina, and I had in common is that resilience is our superpower, so that would be it,” Watros said.

Wright said that her autobiography title would be “Life tried to break me… but I’m awesome.”

Cynthia Watros and Finola Hughes: The 2024 Daytime Emmy nominees for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress’

Watros and Hughes spoke about being nominated for the 2024 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actress” for their acting work in “General Hospital.”

“In my Emmy reel, I submitted some amazing scenes with the wonderful Laura Wright,” Watros revealed, and the crowd went nuts. “I submitted the ones when her character, Carly, was telling me that Willow was my daughter, and we were in the chapel, and she was telling me that Willow was going to die. I put those scenes in because Laura was amazing in them, and I thought that those scenes could only help.”

“The other scene I put in was with Cyrus pretending to be a priest,” Watros said. “I also tried to find some comedic stuff to sprinkle in there, but Nina did not have a happy year so there wasn’t a lot of fun stuff to include.”

“I am always one of the last ones to do my reel, and it is usually done in the eleventh hour,” Hughes said. “Luckily, the producers keep notes of things so I put in the moment when I realized that I had shot Charlotte, and then, talking to Sonny (Maurice Benard) about that.”

Ironically enough, last week, when three-time Emmy winner Maurice Benard was at Governor’s Comedy Club on Long Island, he proclaimed the veteran actresses on the show as his “baby mamas.”
