Perhaps the best meme to come out of the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show was a meme showing a picture of Jermaine Dupri, an Atlanta Hip-Hop legend, wearing his ridiculous outfit with the caption ‘he’s a little lad who loves berries and cream.’ Jermaine Dupri has since taken to social media to defend himself.
If the ‘he’s a little lad who loves berries & cream’ caption doesn’t make any sense in your world, here is a refresher. The reference comes from a nearly 20-year-old Starburst commercial:
This is the corresponding Jermaine Dupri meme from the SB Halftime Show with his ridiculous Louis Vuitton socks:

Flash forward to Tuesday and Jermaine Dupri has seen the meme and heard what everybody’s said. Instead of letting sleeping dogs lie, Jermaine Dupri took to Instagram to share a caption of the current charts showing 5 of his songs with Usher in the current top 10 (Usher has 8 of the top 10).
That post came about 24 hours after Jermaine Dupri posted a picture of his socks on Instagram with the caption “Haaa!! ok I ain’t have time for y’all last night I was too drunk, me and my homies performed at the Super Bowl!so I’m just really seeing y’all got me f—– up !! But I will say it’s funny as hell, yoooo!! @pharrell 🤣🤣 you see this !? PS we came into this game with our clothes on backwards, i ain’t no regular n—-.”
Along with the picture of his socks and that caption, Jermaine Dupri shared another meme of his performance. It’s almost as if he’s leaning into the publicity while still somehow trying to defend his leprechaun outfit choice.
Folks were quick to hop in the comments and pile on the Jermaine Dupri socks meme. One person wrote “Them socks touched a soft spot 😢” while another added “Sock it to them, JD!”
One of his fans commented “We never said you weren’t a musical genius, but them socks were hilarious.” And another wrote “Standing on business in them lil a– Polly pocket socks! Let em know!!!”
One thing is for certain, the Jermaine Dupri meme is here to last anytime he gets mentioned in Pop Culture in the years ahead. And we haven’t even scratched the surface of how everyone watching Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show thought Jermaine Dupri was CeeLo Green. Literally everyone I’ve spoken to has said as much.
