The two-day Second Chance final saw its first match air Friday and concludes on the nation’s biggest holiday.

Traditionally, the game show airs a new episode every Christmas, but this year, it’s breaking the mold.

After months of recycled contestants and questions due to the now-resolved WGA strike, the postponed Season 39 tournaments have finally kicked off.

Stretching across four weeks until mid-January, the Second Chance Competition promises four winners, each claiming $35,000 and entry into a Champions Wildcard Competition.

This competition holds the key to two coveted spots in February’s Tournament of Champions.

Standout sensation, Juveria Zaheer, is likely to be the first winner after an astounding $51,200 victory in Friday’s match.

However, many fans won’t be able to witness her seal the deal and progress to the next round due to preemptions.

‘YES, THERE IS AN EPISODE TODAY’

A concerned fan in a Reddit forum asked: “There is an episode today even though it’s Xmas, right?”

Another confirmed: “There is, but it is being preempted in a number of markets by basketball and football games.”

A disgruntled viewer expressed: “We don’t like pre-emptions,” echoing the sentiment of many fans.

A fourth wrote: “Some ABC stations will not air this tonight because of NBA Basketball and NFL football. Instead it is airing overnight.”

FRUSTRATING CHANGES

Major changes to the Season 40 schedule, resulting from the WGA strikes, include postponing the annual $250,000 ToC until February.

Regular episodes are also not set to return until April, a huge shakeup from past years.

In addition, Jeopardy! has faced other schedule challenges this season that have made it harder to follow.

ABC unexpectedly moved Celebrity Jeopardy! from Wednesday nights to Tuesdays starting in the New Year.

FANS BUZZING ABOUT JUVERIA

Meanwhile, after last Friday’s episode, fans were convinced of Juveria’s victory Monday, considering her outstanding score.

The previously unvictorious player emerged with the highest score of the entire season, which began in September.

Reddit users expressed their excitement, with one exclaiming: “Interesting, still anybody’s game after the first Jeopardy round and- HERE COMES JUVERIA WITH A STEEL CHAIR.”

Another joked: “Juveria did okay, I guess,” while a third pondered: “How did she lose in her original appearance?? Must’ve run into a superchamp? [she initially lost to upcoming ToCer Hannah Wilson].

Another predicted: “If Juveria keeps this up, she has to be an early favorite for Champions Wildcard, and if she gets into the ToC watch out, I would not want to play her.”

Viewers are advised to check their local listings to confirm if the show is preempted on December 25.
