His Career And ‘Banshees Of Inisherin’ — Behind The Lens – Deadline

Oscar controversy Over ‘To Leslie’ Campaign Might Be Overblown – Deadline

Martin McDonagh, a three-time Oscar nominee this year for writing, directing and producing The Banshees of Inisherin, is also heading to the BAFTA awards this weekend as well as being up for the DGA Award. It is a busy time for the filmmaker behind In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and 7 Psychopaths. He is also an Oscar winner for a short film he made, and of course he is also a much acclaimed playwright.

He joins me for this week’s edition of my Deadline video series Behind the Lens where he reveals he has always preferred making movies to writing for the stage — though he certainly has had huge success in both. We talk also about why he loves working with the same people over and over, creating his own rep company, plus the challenges of making art come to life on the screen and where he is headed next.

Join me every Friday during Oscar season for another edition of Behind the Lens.
