The Tomorrowland Festival will livestream for the first time with Dolby Atmos for immersive sound.

The dance music festival runs from July 15 to August 4 and welcomes more than 600,000 people. Over the past sixteen years, Tomorrowland Festival has become an attraction that draws people from 200 countries across the globe. For the first time, the festival will be live streamed, featuring Dolby Atmos support in the Tomorrowland App and Safari browser.

It’s one of the first music festivals in Europe to live stream with Dolby Atmos immersive sound as Tomorrowland celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

The Dolby Atmos format was originally created to offer immersive sound in cinemas. Gaming embraced the format, and now Apple has brought immersive sound to music streaming via support through Apple Music. Now performances on both stages at the Tomorrowland festival will be available in Dolby Atmos.

Tomorrowland 2022 is taking place July 15 – 17, July 22 – 24, and July 29 – 31 in the Belgian cities of Boom and Rumst. Ticketholders for the Tomorrowland 2021 event were able to attend this year’s shows due to pandemic postponement. The third weekend was added to this year’s festival to help recoup some of the losses organizers experienced during the last two years.

Both the 2020 and 2021 Tomorrowland festivals were canceled, which organizers estimate cost $28 million in lost revenue for that period. “We are very happy to welcome 600,000 festivalgoers at Tomorrowland in Belgium this summer,” says Tomorrowland spokeswoman Debby Wilmsen. “It is great to see that people stayed positive in those challenging years and we are looking forward to share love, music, and friendship soon.”

There are roughly 75,000 attendees at the dance festival each day, making it one of the world’s largest. The huge lineup this year features Alesso, Above & Beyond, Nicole Moudaber, Diplo, DJ Diesel, Amelie Lens, Marshmello, Purple Disco Machine, Martin Garrix, Vintage Culture, and many more EDM artists.
