In the photos, Jay, 73, was seen getting out of his car to pick up food from a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

The writer looked tired as he stepped out in his casual double-denim outfit, with his weight loss on clear display.

The same day as his trip out, a court came to a conclusion after Jay filed for conservatorship of his wife, Mavis, 77, in January, amid her battle with dementia.

Mavis’ lawyer spoke at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, and said she was “in agreement” with the conservatorship and was “receiving excellent care with her husband, Mr. Leno,” according to People.

“I think she’s in the least restrictive environment. I think she’s in very good care with Mr. Leno,” the judge noted.

“Everything you’re doing is right. I totally understand this is a difficult period,” she added to Jay.

The judge further agreed to Mavis’ “consent” to the conservatorship, and noted that Jay was “fit” to fill the role.

According to the outlet, Jay shared with the court that he is currently planning the estate and Mavis’ will, with their assets in common property.

STRONG MAVIS

Mavis’ “agreement” to her own conservatorship comes after a long history of independence and activism.

The California-born philanthropist joined the Board of Directors of the Feminist Majority Foundation in 1997, and was even nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

As part of her work with the foundation, Mavis has fought for women’s rights to be a non-negotiable element of a post-Taliban Afghanistan.

Although Mavis has enjoyed a long marriage to Jay, having tied the knot in 1980, she admitted that being married was never one of her plans.

“I remember telling my mother when I was 7 or 8 that I was never going to get married or have children.

“To me, this is the way women get caught,” she recalled while speaking to The Washington Post in 2014.

Alongside Mavis’ accomplishments, Jay is similarly lauded in the world of comedy.

Alongside standup, Jay has made a name for himself in the world of television.

Starting out in the mid-70s, the star bagged roles in Good Times and the film Fun With Dick And Jane.

Jay then appeared on The Tonight Show for the first time in 1977, eventually becoming its host from 1992 to 2009.

Thanks to his long career, the comedian has an estimated net worth of around $450 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Plenty of Jay’s money goes toward his huge collection of vintage cars, although he concerned fans when one of his cars caught on fire back in 2022.
