Sheena Belarmino still could not figure out how she was cast in the forthcoming musical series “Lyric and Beat.” She plays Melissa, the sister of Darren Espanto’s Jazz character, who is also one of the school’s best singers but is the school’s resident mean girl.

“Parang hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Parang all of this just feels so surreal and I think dapat nagpapasalamat ako sa pamilya ko, sa supporters ko and sa loved ones ko na parating nandyan sa tabi ko,” she said during the face-to-face mediacon for the series last July 19.

(It feels like I still could not believe it. It is as if all of this just feels surreal and I think I should be thankful to my family, to my supporters and to my loved ones who are always there for me.)

In pursuit of her dreams, Belarmino joined a few contests to show off her talent in dancing and singing.

“Sa sobrang dami kong sinalihan, nag-start po talaga ako sa ‘Dance Kids.’ Pero nag-shine talaga ako sa ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids’ which is ‘yung passion ko talaga is singing,” she said.

(Among the many contests I joined, [it can be considered that] I really started at “Dance Kids.” But I think I shone in “Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids” which [highlighted] my real passion, which is singing.)

Also starring Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Kyle Echarri, Darren Espanto, Jeremy G, Angelica Ken and AC Bonifacio, the series starts streaming on Aug. 10. JB
