Actress, singer, and social media influencer Christian Milian chatted about her new Starz series “Step Up.”
Congrats on your new starring role in the Starz hit series “Step Up.” How did you land the role?
Their people reached out to my people. The creator and I talked and discussed the character. I fell in love with the concept of who she was and soon after we made it happen!
What do you love most about your character Collette?
She’s a strong woman who calls the shots under pressure and who doesn’t flinch. She’s sexy, smart, and doesn’t take anyone’s sh!t. Plus there’s a bit of shade going on so it’s fun to play a shady character.
How important is fashion to your character?
Super important because this show takes place in the heart of Atlanta. One of the faces of the culture of the Atlanta music scene is designer fashion and your parents make a huge difference when you show up to meetings and when you are demanding respect so my character has some amazing luxe from boss lady suits to extra large Fendi bags and high-end heels and knee-high boots.
Tell us about some of the ZCRAVE looks that Collette appears in this season.
There’s some amazing two-piece suits that we got from Zcrave that really speak for the role of Colette. Uninhibited, not afraid to stand out, and beautiful structure on the body. Pieces that when you walk in the room can make people say “wow, who is that girl?”
Are these looks that you would wear in real life?
Yes, I do! Some of these looks I’ve actually worn in the past so I when they ask me what I thought Collette would wear I highly recommended Zcrave.
Are other characters in Step Up wearing Zcrave? If so, who wears some of the best looks?
I didn’t really get to find out if other characters wore Zcrave on the show but I think it’s a definitive look for my character specifically so I’m not sure anyone is touching Collette’s wardrobe, to be honest with you.
How were you introduced to ZCrave?
I was introduced to Zcrave through Instagram. I was actually a customer who bought a whole bunch of stuff online and when I reached out on direct message to find out when my product would be coming I got a callback from Hila Shtork Zigdon and somehow we clicked and just I think from that point on became best friends.
I loved her wild out their personality. She seems so motivated and her energy was just infectious and I was like oh I need to know this girl! I feel like I’ve known her in another life where I wanna be her. It’s from that point on we literally talked every day or saw each other in other countries and we go visit each other and even traveled to other countries together to go shopping and do business.
What’s next for you? Any plans to release new music or other TV/film projects?
Next up, I have a movie on the horizon that I’m shooting right now. It’s a thriller. This is my first time doing something like this so it’s super exciting but I love the challenge and I can’t wait for everybody to see this.
