YouTuber MrBeast giving away $250k that he made on X as he surrenders to Elon Musk’s request but says ‘bit of a facade’

MrBeast decided to upload a video to X after being critical of the platform in the past

MRBEAST is gifting his lucky fans thousands of dollars following a back-and-forth with Elon Musk.

The YouTuber decided to dish out $250,000 in cash after uploading his first video to X, formerly known as Twitter.

MrBeast usually only posts his videos to YouTube but he uploaded a 4-month-old video to X on January 15.

In the video, he tested out how various cars (including one $1 car and one $100,000,000 car) matched up to each other.

Musk was quick to cosign the video, writing: “First MrBeast video posted directly on X!”

A week later, on January 22, MrBeast said he made over $250,000 in revenue from uploading the video to the platform.

However, he admitted that these numbers may not reflect how all creators might benefit from posting videos on X.

“It’s a bit of a facade. Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience,” he wrote on X with a screen shot of his revenue from the video.

The influencer was looking to see how monetization worked on X after Musk appealed to him to upload to the platform.

Now, reaching his conclusion, he decided to do something nice for his fans.

“I’m gonna give 10 random people that repost this and follow me $25,000 for fun (the $250,000 my X video made) I’ll pick the winners in 72 hours,” MrBeast wrote.

The YouTuber has been critical of Musk’s platform in the past.

On December 30, MrBeast tweeted that he’d posted a new video and urged his followers to go watch.

An X user replied, “Upload on this platform too,” and Musk replied, “Yeah.”

However, MrBeast quickly shot down the request, writing, “My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X, it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it :/

“I’m down though to test stuff once monetization is really cranking!”

MrBeast has been a YouTube heavyweight for years and boasts a fanbase of more than 233 million subscribers.

He joined the platform in February 2012 and became known for his huge donations after he started gaining sponsorships.

Other YouTubers have echoed similar sentiments to MrBeast regarding the X platform.

KSI said on Logan Paul‘s podcast, IMPAULSIVE, that despite having 8.9 million followers on X, he had only made $1,590 on the platform.

Paul agreed with the YouTuber, saying that the pay is much lower than on other websites.

“Comparatively…to other platforms, for hundreds of millions on YouTube, that’s hundreds of thousands of dollars,” said Paul.

It’s unclear if MrBeast plans to upload more videos to X.

He seemed impressed by the outcome of uploading the car video, writing, “100M views? Dang lol.”

The views were up to 159 million as of the time of writing.

MrBeast did note in the post that he shared the video on X as a sort of experiment.

“I’m curious how much ad revenue a video on X would make so I’m reuploading this to test it. Will share ad rev next week,” he wrote above the clip.
