Three days before headlining this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, Usher made a quick stop at Clark County to obtain a marriage license. Records showed the singer and his longtime lover took the big step on Thursday, February 8.

While their actions marked a significant milestone in the duo’s relationship, a source claimed they owed their progress to the spiritual advisor, Amba Kahly Su. The “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” hitmaker allegedly decided to wed Goicoechea following the wellness specialist’s suggestion.

The wedding will reportedly be an intimate affair attended only by close family and friends. This trip down the aisle will be Usher’s second marriage — his former union was with the fashion designer Tameka Foster, with whom he shares teenage sons Usher ‘Cinco’ Raymond V and Navid Ely.

As for his relationship with Goicoechea, the couple share two children: Sovereign and Sire. Last week — on the same day the marriage license was filed — the 45-year-old confirmed his family would be there to watch his Super Bowl performance.

“They will be around. I’ve been receiving tons of notes from Naviyd,” the proud dad revealed. “Usher, he gave me a couple of notes. He gave me a few songs he felt like I should definitely cut, songs I should keep.”

All four children will likely attend their father’s second wedding, which will take place in one of Las Vegas’ famous chapels, per Daily Mail.

Usher & Jennifer Goicoechea’s Relationship Timeline

The “Yeah!” singer has been turning heads with his relationship with Goicoechea for years. Although it is unclear when the lovebirds first met, they were publicly linked in December 2016 following a sighting on her Instagram page.

In the picture, Usher leaned down while Goicoechea covered her mouth as she whispered into his ear. “Not sure what I’m saying or who I’m speaking to. But my nails look good,” she captioned the post.

Two years after their first sighting, the couple posed again on Goicoechea’s Instagram page. In the snap, captioned “Boys club,” she posed between two pals while Usher laughed as he leaned over the trio.

Despite these social media appearances, Usher and Goicoechea didn’t spark romance rumors until June 2019 at Keith Thomas’ party. They seemingly confirmed their relationship in October with a picture at the Hollywood Bowl.

In the backstage snap, the R&B star was all smiles as Goicoechea kissed his cheek. Usher confirmed the pair were expecting their first child in August 2020, with a source claiming the couple “are thrilled and very excited” to be parents.

Their daughter, Sovereign Bo Raymond, arrived in September 2020. A year later, they welcomed their second child, son Sire Castrello Raymond, in October 2021.

Before taking the Super Bowl stage on February 11, Usher previously teased his performance would include surprise guests, and he delivered his promises in style. The first guest performer was the iconic Alicia Keys, who showed up in a red sequined one-piece while playing the piano.

The powerhouse vocalist and Usher gave a spectacular duet to his classic track, “My Boo,” before giving way for Lil Jon. The rapper jumped on the performance of the 45-year-old’s hit single “Yeah!” and was joined on stage by fellow rapper Ludacris.

The only artist missing from the impressive lineup was Justin Bieber. Although the former teen idol reportedly showed up alongside the Kardashians for the Super Bowl event, he did not participate during the halftime show.

Nonetheless, fans immensely enjoyed Usher’s performance, which he noted was long overdue. Following 2023’s Super Bowl headliner announcement, the 45-year-old shared: “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list.”

“I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon,” he concluded his statement.
