Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has joined the cast of the upcoming FX series Grotesquerie, which comes from prolific producer Ryan Murphy, who is known for his work on series such as American Horror Story, Glee, 9-1-1, and more.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Kelce was going to host a reboot of the competition series Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?
According to Deadline, Kelce has been cast in Grotesquerie alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville. The series recently began production and is slated to release this fall. It is unclear what kind of role Kelce will be playing.
As noted by Deadline, Murphy has become known for helping talent cross over into acting, as he gave Academy Award nominee Lady Gaga her first-ever acting role in American Horror Story: Hotel, and featured Kim Kardashian in a lead role in the latest season of American Horror Story alongside Emma Roberts.
Kelce’s first television role came in the reality dating show Catching Kelce, which was released back in 2016. Last year, he also hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time.
Back in late April, the 34-year-old Kelce signed a two-year contract extension with the Chiefs that will pay him $34.25 million, making him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.
The future Hall of Fame tight end is seeking to win a third-straight Super Bowl title with the Kansas City Chiefs this season, which would make them the first-ever NFL team to pull off a three-peat.
Kelce’s public profile has reached new heights — which is the name of the podcast he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce — since he began dating pop star Taylor Swift in the Fall of 2023, making them one of the most talked about couples in the world.
Kelce has also recently begun to dabble in producing as he produced the indie film My Dead Friend Zoe and is producing a documentary about artist Jean-Michel Basquiat titled King Pleasure.
