THE ADAM PROJECT’s Stars Get Silly in Behind-the-Scenes Blooper Reel

The Adam Project on Netflix is a sci-fi time travel thriller. But it’s so much more than that. It’s also an emotional family drama about regret, grief, and second chances. The film is so emotional director Shawn Levy told us one scene even had the entire cast and crew in tears while filming. (It had the same effect on us while watching it.) With all of those action scenes mixed with real moments of pathos, The Adam Project sounds like it was an intense experience to make. But a new The Adam Project blooper reel shows that even when you’re trying to save the universe and your family there’s still plenty of time for fun. Especially when your young star can’t stop swearing like he’s Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.

This behind-the-scenes look at the making of Netflix‘s latest science fiction adventure shares some of the sillier moments of filming. It includes mistakes and laugh breaks from seasoned performers like Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldaña, and Jennifer Garner. With errors and slip-ups that feature everything from actors forgetting their lines, kitchen stools tripping its star, knocking over valuable props, and, in one especially hilarious moment, a truck refusing to start during a particularly intense moment.

Also, we understand why Reynolds’ Netflix joke didn’t make it into the film. (It would have totally taken us out of the moment.) But that “streamer” line is superb. Second only to his joke about Netflix really wanting The Rock for the film.

But the biggest surprise might be how many takes young Walker Scobell ruined by doing his best Merc With a Mouth impression. He plays the 12-year-old version of the film’s titular hero. Reynolds plays the adult, time-traveling version.

Cleary young Walker has seen his fellow Adam’s Deadpool movies a few too many times. The foul-mouthed superhero would prefer we not blame him, though. But who the f*** else are we going to blame? Walker certainly didn’t learn that language from the film’s script. The Adam Project is a much sweeter movie than this blooper reel suggests.
