VIDEO: Reporter Tony Atkins Saves Woman From Hurricane Ian Floods

CNN/WESH

Tony Atkins, a reporter at CNN affiliate WESH, was filmed wading into Hurricane Ian flood waters to rescue a woman who could’ve potentially drowned had it not been for Atkins’ quick thinking.

The video, posted to CNN’s account on Thursday afternoon, shows Atkins wading through waist-deep waters before putting the woman on his back and carrying her to safety.

After seeing what Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore went through on Wednesday, many people found themselves wondering why news networks still send reporters into these life-threatening hurricane conditions, and while we may never get a definitive answer, we’re sure this woman is glad that Atkins was on the scene during her time of need.

On Thursday morning, more than 2.5 million customers Floridians were without power, according to reports. Speaking to reporters, a reserved President Joe Biden says it’s probable Hurricane Ian has caused a “substantial loss of life.”

Our thoughts are with all of those affected by Hurricane Ian at this time.
