Pepsi has made a huge change to its color with a series of limited edition bottles, but fans will be lucky if they’re able to get their hands on one.
The NHL playoffs have begun and to celebrate the quest for the Stanley Cup, Pepsi has announced that it’s changing its cola’s colors to orange in support of the Edmonton Oilers.
These bottles look just like regular Pepsi bottles, but instead of the traditional dark cola look, the drink itself is bright orange. This isn’t some new flavor like we’ve seen with Orange Cream Coke.
According to Pepsi, this change was also made to celebrate how 35 years ago, legendary Oilers goaltender Grant Fuhr inked a deal with the company to feature Pepsi’s logo and colors on his goalie pads in 1989. However, the NHL prevented him from wearing it.
Fans are desperately trying to get their hands on the bottles, but it’s proving to be quite a difficult task, to say the least.
New Orange Pepsi is incredibly rare
Ever since the product was announced, fans have been trying to get their hands on the orange Pepsi bottles with little luck.
Oilers fans on Reddit have been searching far and wide for the orange Pepsi, even going as far as calling the cola company for information.
“I want one to add it to my shrine for the Oiler Gods!” one exclaimed.
“I called Pepsi they only have about 1000 and they are not sell them just giving them out,” one said.
This wouldn’t be the first time an orange Pepsi product was only available in a limited capacity. Back in 2019, they gave out 1,100 orange bottles for the Cleveland Browns matchup vs the Los Angeles Rams in honor of Cleveland’s Sunday Night Football return.
Depending on how deep the Oilers go in the playoffs, this limited run could become a longer-lasting staple.
In 2024, the team made it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals before losing to the Florida Panthers in 7 games.
