Patrick Mahomes Blocks Daughter from Staring Directly at Eclipse

Patrick Mahomes was seen blocking his daughter from staring directly at the solar eclipse in adorable photos and videos. The family gathered together on Monday to celebrate this monumental moment.

Brittany Mahomes shared multiple Instagram stories of her family, featuring Patrick and their children watching the solar eclipse. In one of the clips, Patrick held his daughter, Sterling, as they both wore protective glasses. You can see the excitement on both of their faces.

During the clip, Brittany asked Sterling what she could see.

“I see the moon!” Sterling replied in awe as she held her glasses over her eyes.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, the couple’s son, “Bronze,” seemed totally unphased by the entire event. In fact, Brittany shared a photo of him sitting on the ground and playing with a broom.

She also showed a clip of her dogs inside, stating that they won’t be allowed to watch the eclipse because “they won’t wear glasses!”

During one point of the solar eclipse, Brittany shared a video of her daughter, Sterling, walking on their patio and looking directly up at the sun without glasses. Immediately, Patrick sprung into father duty and blocked her view.

“We got the whole crew,” Brittany said while filming her guests. “Don’t look, Sterling!” she exclaimed once she realized what was happening. Everyone started laughing at the adorable scene.

This comes after countless individuals joked about the dangers of the solar eclipse. While it’s all fun and games, there is truth to Patrick’s concern. If you look directly at the solar eclipse without the proper protection, you could actually go partially blind. Even worse, your eyes might not even register the pain or effects of the sun until over 24 hours later.

Last solar eclipse in 2017, a TikToker actually experienced irreversible eye damage after staring at the eclipse without glasses. She claimed to only have looked at the sun for about 10-15 seconds. The next day, she woke up and could only read every other word with her left eye.

That being said, while the crew was joking about the situation, Patrick was smart to jump in the way of his daughter’s attempt to watch the eclipse unprotected.
