WHEEL of Fortune’s longtime host Pat Sajak has stumbled into the New Year with a cringe-worthy mix-up.
The game show veteran messed up his cue cards, leading to an awkward misunderstanding about a contestant’s personal life.
Pat, 77, opened Monday’s show by interviewing Jason, a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
But the train wreck started when the host, seemingly in his own world, asked: “Married man?”
A baffled Jason responded with a simple: “No, I’m single, actually.”
Pat laughed and took a moment: “You know, I’m sorry.”

He shuffled through his cue cards, seeming to have put them in the wrong order.
“I just messed up a card, hold on,” he requested as Jason stood idly by.
Pat attempted levity by leaning into the mess-up with another mess-up: “So you’re a circus acrobat, I see?”
Finally, Pat got the correct details about Jason’s life in “Paris, Texas, as a single dad to two adopted boys.”

Pat haphazardly concluded with another light joke: “Nice to have you, Jason, forgive me, but it’s been a New Year’s weekend. You have to understand.”
STRANGE WHEEL
Wheel of Fortune’s host since 1981, Pat, has gotten fast and loose as he winds down before retiring this June, and Ryan Seacrest takes over.
Last year, the host got into a hairy situation when he pulled on a contestant’s large beard.
He also attempted to wrestle another unsuspecting contestant to the ground.
However, the contestant – a semi-pro wrestler – later said he “loved” the moment.
Pat also pulled out a fake fish for a contestant with a genuine fish phobia, a mockery she didn’t seem to take well.
There are also plenty of moments where Pat endears fans, of course.
Recently, a contestant missed the bonus round and gave Pat a genuine jump scare.
Once Pat opened the prize card, she loudly screamed and frightened the host with her candid reaction.
