He revealed during an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in August that he and Dunne crossed paths during their time at LSU through mutual connections. The baseball player explained that his best friend was dating Dunne’s roommate, fellow TikTok personality Elena Arenas, leading to their introduction — a classic case of a “small-world” coincidence.
Skenes mentioned that both he and the gymnast don’t let the things written about them on social media affect them.
“It’s tougher for her,” he explained. “I’ve advised her, ‘People will talk about you. People will talk about me. If it bothers you, if it upsets you, you have to find a way to either avoid seeing it or not let it affect you.’ Personally, I find it easier to avoid seeing it than to not let it bother me.”
