Marques Brownlee calls Porsche 911 Turbo S the “Best Car in the World” – but major recall forced him to stop driving it

Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) believes his Porsche 911 Turbo S is the best car on the planet—but even that couldn’t save it from a recall that warned him to stop driving immediately.

With over 18 million YouTube subscribers, Brownlee is one of the most influential tech reviewers in the world. Known for his deep-dive reviews of the latest smartphones, EVs, and cutting-edge gadgets, he’s built a reputation for expert analysis and high production value.

One of his other big passions is cars, showcased on his Auto Focus channel, where he tests some of the most advanced vehicles available today.

“The Best Car in the World”

Brownlee, who has spent 15,000 miles with his 2024 Porsche 911 Turbo S, called it his ultimate daily driver. Despite testing high-tech EVs like the Tesla Model S Plaid, he still believes the gas-powered sports car is unmatched.

“In my belief, this is the best car in the world. I literally believe it’s the best car in the world,” he said in a new video.

However, even his dream car wasn’t immune to manufacturing issues. Brownlee revealed that he received a letter from Porsche warning him that his wheels could fall off due to a defect, forcing him to park the car immediately.

“I got a letter saying ‘stop driving your car now because the wheels could fall off.’ That would be really bad if they did, so I stopped driving it,” he explained.

Luckily, when he took the car in for inspection, Porsche determined his specific model wasn’t affected. Still, he was surprised at how little coverage the issue received.

“You probably didn’t see any headlines about it because it’s not a headline-worthy recall,” he said. “But that’s a thing that happened.”

MKBHD’s perfect Daily Driver

Despite the scare, Brownlee still ranks the 911 Turbo S above everything else he’s driven, even over the Tesla Model S Plaid. As someone who stands 6’3”, he’s especially impressed by how comfortable the car is for his size – something that isn’t always the case with sports cars.

“This car has the roomiest footwell of any car I’ve driven in this class,” he noted. “I can fully extend my leg, which is rare.”

While he acknowledges it’s not perfect—pointing out its lack of built-in dash cams, wireless charging, and modern creature comforts—he has no plans to replace it.

“I think I’m going to have this car for a long time. And I wouldn’t change a thing.”
