Kyra Sedgwick is not in her pop culture trivia era, at least judging from her performance on a new episode of Celebrity Jeopardy!. The actor took her best crack at a category called “Also a Taylor Swift Song,” and despite throwing out a few guesses, she wasn’t able to correctly assign any of the clues to the singer’s tunes.
Just to be abundantly clear here: All the clues in the “Also a Taylor Swift Song” category describe a word or phrase that — you guessed it — is also the name of a Taylor Swift song. Sure, there are a lot of songs to choose from, but the Jeopardy! writers certainly didn’t go for any deep cuts. For example, the $200 clue reads: “This washing machine cycle using cold water and low spin speed is suggested for lingerie and silk neckties.” (Say it with us now: “Delicate!”)
But even standard laundry lingo was a bit befuddling to Sedgwick, who incorrectly answered “gentle.” Her co-contestants Mo Rocca and Amanda Seales couldn’t get the right answer for that one, either, but they caught up by successfully answering the clues for “Tim McGraw” and “Red,” respectively.
Sedgwick tried again on another clue in the category, which read: “It’s not yours! It’s this word that comes before ‘craft’ and ‘sweeper’ in the names of popular video games.” (That’s a no-brainer: “Mine!!!”) But that first sentence in the clue apparently went over Sedgwick’s head, as she responded “mind.”
While we won’t spoil the category’s final clue for you, it probably goes without saying that Sedgwick didn’t get that one right, either, even though it included a lyric as a hint. Oh, well — there’s always next time. Watch a clip of Celebrity Jeopardy! below.
