Northern Irish rap trio Kneecap have released “The Recap,” their first new song since their controversial performance at Coachella in April. Stream it below.
Featuring a frenetic instrumental from London drum-and-bass producer Mozey, “The Recap” officially comes to streaming services after becoming a staple of the group’s live sets. Before today, the propulsive track had only been available on Soundcloud since its debut at Wide Awake Festival in late May.
At the end of the track, one of the Kneecap members can be heard saying, “Good effort Kemi, hard lines in the elections, onwards and upwards, free Palestine,” a direct reference to Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch.

“The Recap” drops just ahead of Kneecap’s upcoming performance at Glastonbury Festival this Saturday, June 28th. Both Badenoch and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have called for the group to be banned from Glastonbury after member Mo Chara was charged with a terror offense for allegedly displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah during a London concert in November 2024.
Kneecap previously denied supporting either Hamas or Hezbollah and have described the charge against Mo Chara as “a carnival of distraction.”
The band has faced immense scrutiny since displaying pro-Palestine, anti-Israel messaging at Coachella 2025, which led to Sharon Osbourne calling for their work visas to be rescinded, the group parting ways with their US booking agency, and the cancellation of several concerts in Germany.
However, Kneecap have also received widespread support from several high-profile UK acts, including Massive Attack, Pulp, Primal Scream, Fontaines D.C., IDLES, and The Pogues, who signed an open letter defending their freedom of expression. Johnny Marr has also defended the group against calls to censor their Glastonbury set.
Following their summer European festival run, Kneecap are set to kick off a North American tour in October. See their upcoming dates below, and get tickets here.
