Kim Kardashian is facing backlash for her extensive private jet usage in 2024, with over 30 flights, including five in one day and several short trips. Despite criticism, she continues with brief flights, emitting significant CO2.

According to a report, the environmental toll equates to the energy usage of 55 households yearly. Kardashian’s jet, purchased for $95 million in 2022, has been heavily customized. Critics question her environmental commitments despite claims of sustainability in her brand, SKIMS.

Kim Kardashian Has Been Accused Of ‘Eco-Terrorism’

According to the Daily Mail, allegations of “eco-terrorism” have surfaced against Kim Kardashian following revelations of her extensive private jet usage since January 1.

With over 30 flights, including a shocking five trips in a single day and numerous brief journeys, the reality star faces mounting criticism amid a broader backlash against A-listers like Taylor Swift for their environmental impact.

Despite calls for restraint, Kardashian seems unswayed by the criticism, as evidenced by her jet’s 15 trips lasting under 40 minutes in 2024, with eight flights spending less than 15 minutes airborne. According to data from Kimkjet on Instagram, these flights have consumed over 35,420 gallons of fuel and emitted 425 tons of CO2.

As calculated by the Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, the ecological toll of Kardashian’s flights is comparable to the energy consumption of 55 households in a year or the electricity usage of 83 homes annually. To counterbalance this, the SKIMS mogul would have to plant 7,027 trees and nurture them for a decade.

The Reality TV Star’s Gulfstream G65OER Jet

In 2022, Kardashian acquired a Gulfstream G65OER jet for a reported $95 million, investing further in custom modifications to enhance its value to $150 million, per the Daily Mail.

This luxurious aircraft, dubbed “Kim Air,” was unveiled to the public on an episode of her family’s Hulu reality series, “The Kardashians.” Among her notable journeys, the mom of four embarked on a significant trip to France in late January for Paris Fashion Week.

Departing from California to New Orleans, she jetted off to Paris on January 25, gracing the Maison Margiela Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 show.

Remarkably, she returned to Los Angeles the same day to attend her son Saint West’s basketball game. Although her jet touched down in Paris again on January 27, there’s no indication she was aboard for this return.

In another brief yet costly jaunt, Kardashian’s jet embarked on one of its shortest journeys on February 24, spanning just five minutes between Isles-lès-Villenoy and Paris in France. Despite its brevity, this trip generated nearly one ton of CO2 emissions and guzzled 90 gallons of jet fuel, ringing up a bill of approximately $506.

Earlier, on January 31, the jet whisked from Van Nuys to Camarillo in California, a mere 10-minute flight. February 10 saw Kardashian jet off on a 35-minute excursion from Van Nuys to Las Vegas, Nevada, ahead of the Super Bowl final, where she was accompanied by her new beau, Odell Beckham Jr. This journey, emitting around four tons of CO2, could have been completed in under five hours by car.

Notably, on February 12, the multimillion-dollar jet was exceptionally busy, ferrying Kardashian’s celebrity pals, including Justin and Hailey Bieber, from the Super Bowl. The five trips that day included hops from Las Vegas to Van Nuys and back, then to Camarillo, and further to Phoenix, Arizona, collectively spewing just under 20 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Kardashian’s eyebrow-raising reliance on her jet has sparked doubts about the sincerity of her environmental commitments through her business ventures.

Despite claims from her brand SKIMS about collaborating solely with “suppliers and vendors who we believe in and share our commitment to sustainability, accountability and transparency” and contributing a portion of proceeds to environmental causes like One Percent for the Planet, fans are questioning the authenticity.

While the company touts its use of FSC recycled paper boxes and compostable bags, Kardashian’s jet’s environmental impact has led some fans to label her actions as “eco-terrorism.” Others have pointed out the irony of her using reusable Christmas wrapping while maintaining such a heavy carbon footprint.

The reality TV star was spotted at her ex-husband Kanye West’s “Vultures 2” album listening event on Tuesday night. The move was a huge surprise for fans, as Kardashian was seen standing next to the rapper’s wife, Bianca Censori. The duo has never been seen together in public before.

According to the Daily Mail, the SKIMS founder attended the event as part of a “concerted effort” to put on a “united front” for the family, an act for which West was grateful.

“It’s not like Kim went down the street for this,” a source told the publication. “She flew to San Francisco, and, of course, Kanye was thankful. It was a concerted effort on her part.”

The insider confirmed Kardashian was aware Censori would be at the event. However, they emphasized the beauty mogul wasn’t there for her.

The source added on the pair’s relationship: “They do talk. Kim has accepted that Bianca is the stepmother to her children and that they love her.”
