Today, the enchanting Philadelphia based-singer and songwriter Julia Pratt shared a new single titled “A Little Love” with indie folk rock sensation Mt. Joy. This collaborative track sees Pratt and Mt. Joy unite with a balanced ethereal beauty and intimate emotional sonic waves.
Throughout “A Little Love” Pratt’s layered soprano vocals flow hand-in-hand with the velvety harmonies of Mt. Joy’s Matt Quinn. The song is a poignant ode to heartbreak, enriched by the smooth strums of electric guitars and a seamless fusion of their unique musical sensibilities.
Notably, Pratt’s musical journey intertwined with the indie folk rockers when a viral TikTok performance of her rendition of Mt. Joy’s “Dirty Love” caught their attention. A serendipitous encounter paved the way for collaboration, as Pratt recalls, “I met Matt last August after he saw my ‘Dirty Love’ TikTok… I ended up sending him a link to my demo folder. He told me ‘A Little Love’ immediately caught his attention because of its simplicity and intimacy. I mentioned that I heard the song as a duet (hint, hint) and I was completely over the moon when he asked me to be on it!”
According to Quinn, the connection with “A Little Love” was immediate and profound. “I played it over and over and was singing it all over my house. [Pratt] later explained that she had always heard the song as a duet, and I shamelessly asked if I could take a crack at singing and helping finish the track up.
