Taylor grew up playing sports, which gives her a unique perspective when it comes to her job as a sports reporter. “That’s not a really rational idea that a woman wouldn’t hold that space because she didn’t play sports,” she says. “And actually, I did play sports. I played sports all through high school, all through middle school, and I ran track in college. So, I actually was a collegiate athlete, which ironically puts me in a different space than some of the men that I work with.”

Taylor loves boxing workouts where she gets to spar with a trainer. Fitness boxing is a great full-body workout, experts say. “There are studies that show trying to hit a target with your hands improves eye-hand coordination and possibly makes you feel more alert and attentive,” says physical therapist Linda Arslanian, director of rehabilitation services at Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s hospital.

No beach vacation is complete for Taylor without fresh pineapple or coconut juice. “Pineapple has more than 100% of your recommended daily amount of this essential trace element,” says the Cleveland Clinic. “Manganese helps with bone formation, immune response and metabolism.”

Taylor’s social media updates show she enjoys a variety of food, including large cheese platters. “There are certain cheeses that can help your gut health,” says Alexis Supan, MPH, RD. “Options like cheddar, Parmesan, Gorgonzola and Gouda are all excellent cheeses when it comes to providing us some good bacteria and keeping our gut happy.”

Taylor is determined never to stop learning (which is crucial for brain health). “I’ve looked at every position I’ve had in my career as something that made me better as a talent,” she says. “There’s certainly been points in my career when I felt like I was ready for something, and I then I eventually got the opportunity and quickly learned that at the time I originally wanted it, I was absolutely not ready for it. So, everything happens when it’s supposed to happen. So, it’s all about taking advantage of the opportunity you have in front of you and using it to get better at what you do, and respecting what you’re learning. And I did learn so much on that show. But also making sure you’re constantly working for your next step.”
