Anyone who has watched The Bear or Shameless knows that Jeremy Allen White has been in quite good shape for some time now. For his new role in the Oscar-buzzy A24 film The Iron Claw, however, White has to take things to a whole new level.

In order to play Kerry Von Erich, the 32-year-old Allen had to pack on some serious muscle in order to convincingly play a member of the Von Erich family wrestling dynasty, who checked in at 6′ 2″, 254 lbs during his wrestling heyday. As a result, White found himself on a diet that consisted of muscle-packing foods such as frozen turkey patties.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly for a feature interview about The Iron Claw — which obtained an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA to promote the film admist the strike because A24 agreed to the union’s terms — White revealed what his diet was in order to get into wrestler shape.

The Bear star’s hardcore regime obviously paid off as White certainly looks shredded these days, as evidenced by not just the first official trailer for The Iron Claw, which you can watch below, but also some recent paparazzi photos of him going for a jog in Los Angeles back in the summer, which you can find if you Google Images the phrase “Jeremy Allen White” jogging.

In addition to the up-and-coming White, The Iron Claw also stars the equally yolked duo of Zac Efron and Harris Dickinson as Kevin Von Erich and David Von Erich, respectively. Stanley Simons, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, and Lily James also featured in the project, which some Academy Award prognosticators believe will earn a Best Picture nomination.
