“After a great deal of consideration and care, Grant and I have decided to dissolve our marriage after 15 years of being together. We continue to share an abundance of love, support and acceptance for one another as we enter this new chapter,” she told her followers.

“Our goals and intentions for our family are pure, and come from a place of laying an unbreakable foundation for our children for what ‘family’ means to us.”

She went on to say how this year has been a significantly hard one for her both mentally and emotionally.

“This past year has pushed my limits spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally. I honestly don’t know how I would have made it through some of the harder moments without feeling gratitude for how precious and valuable life is,” she told her followers.

“I also couldn’t have made it through this phase of life without Grant, and it has somehow strengthened our bond as co-parents and redefined what our friendship looks like moving forward.”

Fans rallied behind her after she broke the news.

“… By sharing your story, you’re giving others hope. You’re setting an example. You’re still inspiring others even within the most difficult of life circumstances. It’s an incredible gift to you community and one your kids will be so proud of someday. Here’s to the next chapter.” one person wrote.

“Change and New Chapters are so Challenging…to have reached a point of Peace, Respect, and unwavering Love for Family says an incredible amount about the Relationship you two share. CoParenting and staying amazing supportive Friends is a beautiful gift you are giving your children,” another person wrote.

Dupri gained notoriety when she created her blog Damsel in Distress. She would later expand into her Instagram creating a brand for herself.

ROCK BOTTOM

The influencer had admitted that the relationship had been rocky at points, during an interview over the summer.

“It was around the Fourth of July. My husband, Grant, had moved out. And I realized I would end up alone with millions of followers, but no one to cuddle with,” she told the New York Post, reflecting on her marriage five years prior.

During the interview, she revealed that during that time, she was not feeling her best emotionally, and her husband became an afterthought.

“The way that my mind works is when things start to slip with my mental health or in my personal life, I start to really hold on tightly to something that I feel like I can control,” she says.

“For me,  it was the content that I was creating.”

However, she would later admit that this was a bad idea, and found herself snapping at assistants, on edge during her meetings, and barely speaking to her husband.

“I think it just boiled up to this point where it was all about the blog, all about me, and my Instagram. It was just so selfish, so, so, so selfish. And these moments add up. And if you keep adding them up, you will hit a rock bottom,” she explained.

After her husband moved out of their home, she had to commit to working on her mental health, as well as going to couples therapy in order to get themselves back on track.
