General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that some recent story developments have left fans wondering about Michael E. Knight’s (Martin Grey) future at the show. Martin is suffering from a broken heart, so it’s easy to see why he needs some time away to lick his wounds.
After Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) schemed in retaliation against Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), Martin dumped the woman he loves – only to change his mind after the truth about Tracy’s plot came out.
Alas, by the time Martin found Lucy to make amends, she’d already hooked up with Scott Baldwin (Kin Shiner).
Martin stood by his decision to split and can barely even look at Lucy right now.
Once Martin arranged all the paperwork for Ace Cassadine’s (Jay and Joey Clay) adoption, he announced that he was leaving town for an indefinite period of time – though he assured Laura Collins (Genie Francis) that he was only a phone call away.
Lucy was unable to catch up with Martin before his flight out of Port Charles, so what does all this mean for Martin’s status?
Michael E. Knight has been written out on similar extended trips before, so it’s possible this is a temporary thing and that he’ll be back down the road.
However, it certainly seems like Knight is out for now, so this should serve as his GH exit for a while.
The show is overloaded with characters on any given day, so maybe this is their way of cutting things down a bit – especially since Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) upcoming return arc will no doubt take up a great deal of airtime.
Writing out unnecessary supporting characters makes it easier to focus on the key players, so that might be what’s going on with Martin here.
Of course, good old “Marty” can be entertaining, so many fans will miss Michael E. Knight while he’s gone!
Fortunately, lawyers are always in demand in Port Charles, so there’s a good chance Martin will return to tackle more legal drama sooner or later.
