SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk bizarrely claimed that he is an alien when asked if he was during a presentation at the Viva Technology fair.
The billionaire entrepreneur, who plans to colonize Mars sometime over the the next couple of decades, was told by the host of the presentation, “Some people believe you are an alien.”
Elon Musk, responding remotely, replied with a smile, “I am an alien.”
“You are? Now you are uncovered,” the host responded.
“Yes, I keep telling people I’m an alien, but nobody believes me,” Musk affirmed, then laughed like he was a real-life Dr. Evil.
Perhaps that is why he so badly wants to be the Supreme Ruler of Mars.
Naturally, considering who said it, Elon Musk claiming that he is an alien resulted in an enormous response on social media and in particular on X (Twitter), owned by Musk himself.
“As someone on the spectrum, akin to Elon Musk, I resonate with his statement, ‘I am an alien.’ This sentiment captures the unique experience of having a different and powerful way of thinking, relating, and perceiving the world, which can indeed feel like being an alien from another planet,” one person wrote about Musk’s alien comment.
Mostly though, it was just jokes.
If Elon is an alien perhaps why he wants us all to travel with him via Starship to his home planet ☺️🫠 https://t.co/2c6BpO5RkL

“If someone tells you that they are an alien you should probably believe them,” read another comment.
Last month, writing on X, Elon Musk claimed, “I have seen no evidence for aliens and, with ~6000 satellites orbiting Earth, I think I would know.”
Six months ago, Musk said, “To the best of my knowledge, there is no proof, I not aware of any evidence of aliens. If they’re out, there they’re very subtle.”
In 2018, Musk claimed that it was “unknown whether we are the only civilization currently alive in the observable universe.”
Were all of those comments just a smoke screen until his big reveal this week?
Probably not. In reality, the only kind of alien Elon Musk ever been was when he was living in the United States country prior to gaining citizenship.
