Kenneth Mitchell, an actor best known for his performances on “Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel,” will no longer bless fans with his Canadian charm.
The Hollywood entertainer tragically passed away on Saturday, February 24, however, his family did not share the heartbreaking news until early Sunday morning. They announced his death with a poignant statement on social media, celebrating his life and legacy.

Fans were shocked at 6:34 am when Mitchell’s X page was updated with pictures of his obituary alongside the caption that read:
“KENNETH A. MITCHELL 25.11.1974 ~ 24.02.2024. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend.”

The statement emphasized that those close to Mitchell knew him as various things, including a “hope seeker, daydreamer, dream believer, soccer player, beach walker, bear hugger, and landscape designer.”
He was also a “garden grower, canoe paddler, happy camper, nature explorer, cat lover, infectious laughter, gift giver, note sender, movie goer, art maker, music listener, and sports connoisseur,” among others. But more than anything else, the late actor was the proud father of two children. The statement continued:
“Ken was the keeper of countless friendships. Like a massive star exploding with kindness, purity, and a particular brand of silly, you were pulled right into his orbit. Once captured, Ken could bathe you in positivity, thoughtfulness, and hilarity and make you feel so loved.”
The obituary lauded Mitchell with praises, describing him as a “giver, a listener, a sentimentalist, and an excellent observer of his surroundings.” As a friend, the 49-year-old allegedly “loved to watch others shine” and was great at connecting with friends.
“And boy, oh boy, did he love to laugh. He absolutely loved to laugh,” the notice revealed, stating Mitchell embodied the timelessness of nature and often reminded others that “the greatest beauty can be found in the littlest of things.”
Moving on to the cause of his death, the obituary emphasized Mitchell didn’t allow his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to stop him from living life to the fullest. Even with the disabilities that followed, he remained a great person and father. The statement read:
“For five and a half years, Ken faced a series of awful challenges from ALS. And in truest Ken fashion, he managed to rise above each one with grace and commitment to living a full and joyous life in each moment. He lived by the principles that each day is a gift and that we never walk alone.”
“His life is a shining example of how full one can be when you live with love, compassion, humor, inclusion, and community. Ken was an inspirational work of art to all the hearts he touched,” the notice continued, adding that Mitchell was grateful for the outpouring of love and support amid his condition.
The late actor is survived by his wife Susan, their children Lilah and Kallum, his parents Diane and David, brother Sean (Norah), other relatives, and his adorable cats Chai and Cinna.
