Deion Sanders is currently splitting his time between recruiting and fishing. Travis Hunter, the top recruit Deion Sanders has pulled in as a coach, joined Coach Prime for some fishing and showed his coach up by hauling in a 10-pound bass.

The second-year Colorado Buffaloes head coach is hot on the recruiting trail but rippin’ lips in between crootin’ visits and a week ago he showed off a big ol’ largemouth bass with the caption “Where can I go Recruit & Fish in that order. But I don’t fish I like to go Catching so that means who’s ready to Commit , Sign & get here for the next semester?”

That’s a nice fish. It’s a flattering perspective of Deion’s catch, to be sure, but Travis Hunter‘s catch puts that bass to shame. Travis Hunter shows off what appears to be a 10-pound bass that Deion Sanders is geeking out over. It might be 8 or 9 pounds but this fish is an absolute behemoth:

Now lies the question…where has Travis Hunter’s bass caught? My first hunch was Deion Sanders‘ mansion in Longmont, Colorado. But Travis Hunter is out there wearing just a fleece…December in Colorado in a fleece? And the fish are still biting? The temperature is getting down to the 20s nearly every night in Longmont, Colorado right now and the dock in the background of where Coach Prime is fishing doesn’t add up to the dock featured in real estate walkthroughs of his Longmont home.

Deion recently said he is building a new lake to go with Lake Prime and Lake Time. He’s looking for a name for his new lake:

Where Did Travis Hunter Catch His 10 Pound Bass?

That leads me to believe this is at Deion’s home in Colorado but if we’re talking about a ‘pond’ here it would be close to frozen by now and the largemouth bass would be extremely hard to catch.

We do know from past Spring Breaks that Deion Sanders goes down to Texas where he’ll fish for several days at a time. This video from Spring Break in March of this year references ‘Lake Prime’ and Deion’s fishing in Texas. And for what it’s worth, Deion’s former home in Canton, Mississippi is still on the market after being listed 329 days ago.

I might be reading into this way too much, but given that Travis Hunter is only wearing a fleece, there are no mountains at all to be seen in the background, and the lake isn’t frozen, I’m going out on a limb here to say it appears like Deion Sanders is recruiting down in Texas and fishing with Travis Hunter.

Despite not having a bowl game to look forward to, this 10-pound largemouth bass caps off a big month for Hunter. He won the prestigious Paul Hornung Award earlier this month as the nation’s most versatile player. Some Pac-12 rivals, however, were quick to call it a popularity contest.
