Before Sarah Michelle Gellar became the smash-hit sensation in 1997, there was another actress to play the title character.

Kristy Swanson, 54, was the first actress to actually play the fan favourite character of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

She starred in the 1992 Joss Whedon film that was the inspiration for the hit nineties TV series that came five years later.

But it seems she hasn’t aged a day, over 30 years after the cult movie inspired the darker TV series.

Her Instagram shows that she still sports that huge beaming smile and looks more youthful than ever with her blonde hair.

The Hollywood actress has a son with her skating partner Lloyd Eisler whom she competed with in Skating With Celebrities.

Recently on Instagram she wanted to show him round the old set location of the movie Flowers In The Attic which she filmed in 1986.

She took to her grid page with a video of the moment as she captioned the post: “Such a special day in Massachusetts.

“To be able to bring my 16 year old son Magnus to the set of, “Flowers In The Attic” filmed in 1986 when I was just 16, this was very special to me.”

She added: “Thank you to @craneestate_trustees for graciously allowing me to roam the grounds of Foxworth Hall again, 38 years later. 🌷🌷🌷❤️.”

Before her acclaimed role as Buffy Summers she had a part in ‘Hot Shots!’ alongside Charlie Sheen and Cary Elwes in 1991.

Her first role was in 1986 when she played the non-speaking role of Duckette in Pretty In Pink alongside the likes of legendary actress Molly Ringwald.

The very same year she also starred another John Hughes flick, the hit teen comedy film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Swanson went on to appear in other shows such as Knots Landing, Nightingales, and a short-lived Burt Reynolds television series called BL Stryker.

She also appeared in hit shows on US television such as CSI: Miami, Law & Older and One Tree Hill.

In 2009 she also participated in an episode of the sixth series of Gordon Ramsay‘s Hell’s Kitchen.
