Britney Spears Won’t ‘Rush’ Relationship With Mom Lynne Spears

Britney Spears’ Mother Arrives In L.A. To Spend The Thanksgiving Holiday?!

Pop star Britney Spears is reportedly in no hurry to reconcile with her estranged mother, Lynne Spears, even though she and Britney’s older brother, Bryan Spears, attended Britney’s 42nd birthday party the first week of December.

It was rumored that Britney’s younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, even got an invite, but was not able to make it. Even though Britney has been relying on her family more amid her divorce from actor Sam Asghari, it’s been reported that one person whom Britney will not reconnect with is her father, Jamie Spears, despite his failing health and recent leg amputation.

Even though Lynne Spears made the trip from Louisiana to Los Angeles to spend time with her daughter on her birthday, it seems that the “Toxic” singer is hesitant to repair their relationship too quickly. In an article published on Thursday, a source told Us Weekly that the Princess of Pop felt that it was “too soon” to travel home to Kentwood, Lousiana, to see her mother over the holidays, even though her mother wanted her to return home.

“Britney understands that her mom would have loved for her to visit for Christmas but she just felt like it was too soon,” a source told the outlet. “Britney is open to repairing her relationship with Lynne but she wants things to unfold organically and not force anything.”

The insider went on to say that the pop star is “in a really good place” and “would love to continue maintaining her relationship with her mom,” but noted that Britney also “wants to take her time” and take things one day at a time. “She doesn’t feel like there’s a need to rush anything,” the source added.

Earlier this month, a second source told Us that the “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer “is really happy with where things seem to be headed with her mom” and that she was open to “making time to celebrate the holidays together with her mom and brother [Bryan Spears].”

The source went on to say that Britney and her mother “still have a lot to work through,” while the second insider said that “the door for communication has been opened, and they’ve been in contact very often lately.”

Britney Is Repairing Her Relationship With Her Family Following Her Conservatorship

Most of the tension in the Spears family comes from the pop star’s controversial 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021. During much of that time, her personal and financial affairs were largely controlled by her father, Jamie Spears. Britney spoke at length about her conservatorship and her strained relationship with her family in her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which was published in October.

However, Britney’s reconciliation with her mother began in May, when her mother made the first trip from Louisiana to Los Angeles to visit her daughter for the first time in three years.

“My sweet mama showed up at my door step [sic] yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family, there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds!!!” Britney wrote on Instagram at the time along with a childhood photo of herself in a ballerina outfit. “And after being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT!!! I love 💕 you so much!!!”

“I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years!!! Let’s go shopping afterwards!!!” she added at the end of the post.

In August, a third source told Us that the “Gimme More” singer was more “open to the possibility” of repairing her relationship with her mother after Sam Asghari filed for divorce in mid-August. “Britney knows it would take some time and she isn’t sure their connection could ever fully recover,” the insider said at the time.

The “Circus” singer started dating the “Special Ops: Lioness” actor after meeting on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016. The two became engaged in September 2021, only two months before her conservatorship was struck down by a judge. The former couple tied the knot in the backyard of her Thousand Oaks estate in June 2022.
