Britney Spears Puts Controversial Florida Condo On The Market For $2M

Britney Spears Reveals She Is Finally On The 'Right Medication' After Conservatorship

Singer Britney Spears is parting ways with her beloved Florida condo.

It’s been a dramatic time for the “Toxic” singer. Although she released her first song in six years, “Hold Me Closer,” with Sir Elton John, she has also had to address her ex-husband Kevin Federline airing dirty laundry about her two teenage sons in public.

On Friday afternoon, the New York Post reported that the “Gimme More” singer has put her Florida condo on the market for $2 million dollars. Britney, 40, bought the home for $920,000 in 2001, according to Realtor.com.

Britney was in a stifling conservatorship from February 2008 to November 2021. In 2015, the condo became a point of controversy when sister Jamie Lynn Spears claimed that she had at least partial ownership of the condo, which she described as her favorite vacation spot in a highly debated tweet.

The 3,600-square-foot home is made up of three bedrooms and three full bedrooms. It takes up half of the 10th floor and features an expansive balcony, marbled floors, and a mirrored wall with a fireplace.

In addition to an eat-in kitchen, the bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows and a desk nook. The en suite bathroom also has a soaking tub and a detached shower. The building also boasts amenities like a gym, pool, and a game room.

Still, Jamie’s tweet is a sobering reminder about the frustrations Britney must have experienced during her 13-year conservatorship, which she spoke candidly about on Sunday in a quickly deleted 22-minute audio clip that she dropped during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

In the deleted video, Britney lamented how long she was stuck in her conservatorship, asking, “How did they get away with it? And what the f— did I do to deserve it?”

The “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer began the recording by saying that she is getting “nothing out of sharing all of this.” She said that Oprah and other celebrities had offered her interviews “for lots and lots of money” but admitted, “I don’t want any of it.”

Britney became emotional at times as she recalled the ways her family allegedly bullied her during her conservatorship, at one point even calling her fat on a regular basis and forcing her to go to the gym. She also recalled being worked “like a machine” during her Las Vegas Residency.

During the conservatorship, Britney said that it felt like her family “literally killed me,” adding, “They threw me away. That’s what it felt like. My family threw me away.”

Britney said that the conservatorship itself was a “setup,” “premeditated,” and “pure abuse,” saying that a woman had “introduced the idea” of a conservatorship to her parents and helped her father “follow through and make it all happen.” Britney did not name the woman by name in her video.

Towards the end of the recording, Britney confessed that she felt “so so weak” and was “scared” and “broken” during her conservatorship. She also explained her reason for posting the video: “because I want people to know I’m only human.” She continued, “I do feel victimized after these experiences and how can I mend this if I don’t talk about it?”

She ended the 22-minute recording with a brief statement to her fans, saying, “If you’re a weird introvert oddball like me who feels alone a lot of the time, and you needed to hear a story like this today, so you don’t feel alone, know that my life has been far from easy and you’re not alone.”

Shortly after Britney posted the audio clip, her mother Lynne Spears took to Instagram to release her own statement, begging Britney to talk privately.

“Your rejections to the countless times I have flown out and calls make me feel hopeless! I have tried everything,” she continued. “I love you so much, but this talk is for you and me only , eye to eye, in private. ❤️🙏.”

It seems that Britney might not be too interested in keeping the family’s dirty laundry private, as she took to Instagram last night to share a heartbreaking open letter that she wrote to her sons, addressing their allegations that she wasn’t fit to be a mother.
