John Oliver is a name familiar to many, known for his witty commentary and satirical take on current events. Yet, behind the scenes, one of his most cherished roles is not that of a comedian or TV host, but rather that of a husband to his wife, Kate Norley!
The 46-year-old Last Week Tonight host began his journey in the entertainment industry as a stand-up comedian in the United Kingdom. However, it was his move to New York City that sent him skyrocketing to stardom.
Working alongside Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, his talent and charisma propelled him into the spotlight, eventually leading to his own show, Last Week Tonight, which cemented his status as a household name.

John Oliver first crossed paths with wife Kate Norley in 2008 at the Republican National Convention, where she was campaigning with Vets for Freedom, and he was working on a story for The Daily Show. Their relationship grew steadily over the next two years, leading to a proposal during a Caribbean vacation in 2010 and a quiet wedding the following year.
Kate, who grew up in Virginia, is a former U.S. Army medic and Iraq War veteran, via a Stars and Stripes profile. She also survived a severe car accident at the age of 16.
Afterward, she decided to forego college to join the army following 9/11, working as a combat medic and mental health specialist, providing aid to both soldiers and civilians in Iraq. Her dedication and bravery earned her respect and admiration, not only from her fellow servicemen and women but also from Oliver himself, who has often expressed his pride in her accomplishments.
While keeping a low profile, she continues to advocate for veterans’ rights and support initiatives that provide assistance to those in need with organizations like Vets for Freedom and Team Rubicon.
Together, the couple have two kids: Hudson, born in 2015, and another son, born in 2018.
In 2017, Oliver spoke about Hudson, who was born premature, on Last Week Tonight. “I have a son. He is 19 months old, he was born prematurely following a very difficult pregnancy and I’m worried about his health and I still worry about his health a lot,” he said.
He casually announced the birth of his second child at the 2018 Emmy Awards Governors Ball, when the baby boy was 3 months old.
“It’s bewildering [and] exhausting juggling that and the show, but no, it’s the greatest,” he told People at the time.
