Britney Spears fans rejoice as pop star dethrones ex Justin Timberlake’s no. 1 single Selfish on the music charts

Britney Spears' fans pushed her 2011 song Selfish up the charts to boot Justin Timberlake's song Selfish from the top spot

A BRITNEY Spears track from 2011 has topped the Hot 100 chart as the singer’s fans support her against ex Justin Timberlake.

The Britney Army has knocked Justin‘s no. 1 song Selfish off the top spot by purchasing and streaming Britney’s little known song of the same name.

Britney’s fans succeeded in getting the song, from her 2011 album Femme Fatale, to knock Justin’s song off the top of the Top 40 of the US iTunes chart.

Selfish, which dropped Thursday, is Justin’s first track from his forthcoming LP, Everything I Thought It Was.

It was in the number one spot as soon as it was released and was still riding high on Friday morning.

But Britney’s track has now dethroned Justin’s song and his track has slipped to third spot.

The song is at the top of the pop iTunes chart after a Britney fan account on X/Twitter joked that she was the one releasing Selfish this week.

It apparently ‘started as a joke’ when Justin announced his release.

“Then we all joined in, saying that Britney Spears was coming back with a ‘brand’ new song,” BritneyxYtube told Entertainment Weekly.

Justin, 42, has been the focus of backlash since Britney’s tell-all book was released last year revealing some bombshells about their relationship.

The duo dated from 1999 to 2002.

In her memoir, The Woman In Me, Britney said she had an abortion during their relationship and also claimed the NSYNC star cheated on her with girlband member.

Britney, now 41, claimed that she got the abortion in 2000 – a decision she quickly came to regret.

The decision is said to have “haunted” Britney before she went on to have her sons, Sean Preston in 2005 and Jayden James in 2006, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

After the book was released in October, Britney fans flooded Justin’s Instagram pages with angry comments forcing the crooner to disable the comments function.

DEALING WITH DRAMA

The Trolls voice actor and his wife Jessica Biel were said to be “reeling” after his ex’s claims came to light.

An insider told The U.S. Sun, “Justin owns who he was when he and Britney were together, even though his personality, career, lifestyle, and personal priorities are radically different now, 20 years later.

“This book is a nightmare for him because of how it throws the whole family into chaos. The timing stings just as much as the revelation itself.”

The source went on: “Justin had a big fall planned with new music on deck, more work with his old friends in NSYNC, and of course, the next installment of the Trolls franchise, which has been a huge moneymaker for Justin over the last several years.”

Ahead of the book’s October 24 release, there had been major speculation about what it would reveal about Britney and Justin’s relationship.

So far, the couple has not addressed the claims.

BLOCK THE NOISE

Meanwhile, Justin wants to “block the noise” of Britney’s memoir accusations.

He is “determined to block the noise of former lover Britney Spears’ memoir revelations of cheating and a devastating abortion,” an insider told The U.S. Sun exclusively.

The pop star’s focus is to show the world he’s “at the top of his game and one of the best live performers on the planet.”

“And with that, the narrative of the Britney scandal will fade from people’s memories,” the source said.

“There is some trepidation about how Britney’s claims could impact his career.

“It will come up for sure because Cry Me A River will be in the set.”

Many of Justin’s fans thought he had hinted that Britney, 42, cheated on him with his music video for Cry Me A River.

In the clip, Justin caught a Britney lookalike being unfaithful.

The insider said, “But he has time now to consider whether he wants to talk about Britney or not in the next few months before shows start and then on stage.

“There is a confidence that his comeback will be massive.”
