JAMES Bond film bosses hope to moon-raker in wads of cash with a range of Miss Moneypenny office supplies.

The firm that controls the marketing and merchandise for the 007 films has just been granted a trademark to flog goods using the Moneypenny branding.

Miss Moneypenny is the brand’s most well-known secretary and the movies always include scenes of smooth-talking Bond flirting with Moneypenny.

She is secretary to M, who is Bond’s superior officer and head of the British Secret Intelligence Service.

Soon film fans will be able to get their hands on Moneypenny’s stationery.

Documents filed to the UK government’s Intellectual Property Office reveal that trademarks are now in place for Moneypenny notepads, jotters, pens and pencils.

And there is protection to market briefcases, bags, suitcases, backpacks, vanity cases and make-up holders.

Another class allows the sale of mobile phone cases and sleeves and pouches for laptops and tablets.

The application has been passed and the brand now has legal protection for the name for 10 years.

The trademark will give film chiefs the freedom to market the goods exclusively with Moneypenny branding and prevent other firms from cashing in on the popularity of Bond.

An intellectual property lawyer who has seen the papers told us: Fist, the trademark bolsters their ability to take action against third parties who may be using the relevant names in the course of trade without consent.

“The mere presence of these kinds of trade marks on the register can also act as a deterrent, where a third party is considering using the name without their consent.

“Secondly, improves their ability to enter into agreements to commercialise their personal brand.

“By way of example, they may wish to license out the trademarks to partners and earn royalties that way.”
