Harrison Ford led Indiana Jones, and the Dial of Destiny was reportedly the last installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, the sequel to 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. There are five films in the franchise, and it has grossed over $2 billion at the worldwide box office. However, as per recent reports, the last movie suffered a massive loss at the box office. The first film in this series was released in 1981, and Harrison Ford became a legend portraying the iconic character. He was de-aged for the fifth installment, and it reportedly took over 100 artists at the Industrial Light and Magic to achieve the task. They spent three years on the movie’s visual effects. The film featured Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonio Banderas, and Karen Allen among the supporting cast besides Ford.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was released last year, but according to Disney’s financial reports, the movie suffered a considerable loss, as per Collider. As per the media outlet, movie economic expert Caroline Reid’s report at Forbes reveals the 2023 magnum opus suffered a mammoth loss of more than $100 million. It was one of Disney‘s most ambitious projects, with a staggering budget of $387.2 million, including a whopping $79 million in post-production enhancements only.

The film’s financial statements were disclosed by its UK production, which showed a repayment of $58.3 million after spending $308.2 million on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Then, before its release, the PLT received another $2.7 million in reimbursements, reducing the expenditure to $326.2 million.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny earned a disappointing $383.96 million at the worldwide box office. After Disney took its 50% of the box office earnings, which is around $192 million. Therefore, as calculated, it faced a monumental loss of $134.2 million.

In the fifth installment, Indiana Jones races against time to retrieve a legendary dial that can change the course of history. Accompanied by his goddaughter, he soon finds himself squaring off against Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA.
