The highly anticipated sequel Dune 2, starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, and more is close to minting over $680 Million worldwide. And for die-hard fans of the franchise, there is good news on the block: Dune 3 is happening! Legendary Pictures announced that Denis Villeneuve will be collaborating with the production for not one but two major motion pictures. And the highly anticipated Dune: Messiah is one of them!
Based on Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune is always three movies. Considering the end of Dune 2, a third movie is pivotal to Paul Atredis’s fate and how the consequences of the sequel affect the story’s arc in general.

Dune: Part Two has been a blockbuster at the box office, earning over $680 Million. With its latest release in China earning over $50 Million, it is already the highest-grossing movie of 2024.
Is Dune 3 Confirmed?
Legendary, the production house behind the mammoth cinematic piece, confirmed to a reputable portable that they are developing a third Dune movie.
They confirmed after confirming that they are currently in talks with Dennis Villeneuve to collaborate on another project. The filmmaker is in talks with Legendary about adapting Annie Jacobsen’s Pulitzer Prize finalist “Nuclear War: A Scenario.” Legendary has also revealed that it is collaborating with Villeneuve on a third “Dune” film, provisionally titled Dune: Messiah.
Legendary has optioned the feature film rights to Jacobsen’s nonfiction book; Villeneuve talks with the studio about producing, adapting, and directing it. His producing partner, Tanya Lapointe, will also participate in the project.
Dune 3 Cast
Timothee Chalamet will reprise his role as Paul Atreides, and Zendaya will be back as Chani, even though her fate at the end of Dune 2 still hangs in the air. Florence Pugh will play a vital role in Dune 3 because Paul is bethroed to her character, Princess Irulan.
Given the storyline, other actors who should return include Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor Joy, and Josh Brolin. Sadly, Austin Butler and Stellan Skarsgard will not return because, as you know (spoilers ahead), their characters were killed off. And that is how Paul became the emperor.
There is a lot of anticipation about Dune 3 or Dune: Messiah after the major critical and commercial success of Dune 2. And fans are happy that Dennis Villeneuve is going to continue his streak!
