Popular South Korean singer and actor Cha Eun-woo is said to star in a Hollywood film very soon. The film is going to be about the exposure of K-pop in the USA.
The Upcoming movie is titled as, ‘K-Pop: Lost On America’, and the K-pop idol is going to play an important role in the film.
It was first reported by Deadline that ‘Riverdale’ actor Charles Melton and Australian actress Rebel Wilson will be a part of the upcoming movie and the filming will start sometime in the fall of this year.
StarNews, the South Korean media outlet has also reported on the news. It stated that K-pop band ASTRO member Cha Eun-woo has recently been offered a role in the movie. The news outlet further reported that the K-pop idol has been offered the lead role in the upcoming film and the singer himself has also ‘cleared part of his schedule for the second half of 2022 in order to prepare for filming.’
The first announcement about the film, ‘K-Pop: Lost In America’ was made by South Korean media company CJ ENM in the August of 2021. ‘Interstellar’ producer Lynda Obst and ‘Parasite’ producer Miky Lee will be producing the film together.
The theme of the movie has also been revealed. The story will revolve around a K-pop boyband. The band ends up in Texas accidentally only two days before their grand global debut in New York City. Now they have to find their way to New York in just two days with a limited amount of money.
The film starring Cha Eun-woo is not the only K-pop-centric movie that has been in the making right now. In 2021, Sony Pictures Animation announced that they are working on a K-pop-centric musical film named, ‘K-Pop: Demon Hunters’. The film will be revolving around a K-pop girl group that hunts demons.
The fans have reacted with joy and excitement to the news. Many K-pop artists have made cameo appearances in movies of TV shows in the US. But this is the first time a K-pop artist will be playing the lead role in a Hollywood film.
Cha Eun-woo and his band ASTRO have recently released new music earlier this year. They dropped their third studio album called, ‘Drive to the Starry Road’ with the hit lead track, ‘Candy Sugar Top’ in May this year.
