Dolby announces a partnership with Audi, marking the introduction of Dolby Atmos in selected vehicle models beginning in July.
Dolby Laboratories has announced a collaboration with Audi, introducing Dolby Atmos in selected vehicle models from the auto manufacturer. The first cars featuring Dolby Atmos will be delivered in July.
Dolby Atmos allows artists to fully realize their creative vision, bringing listeners “inside” the music. Dolby Atmos creates a deeper immersion and connection between artists and their fans, transcending ordinary listening experiences with clarity and depth.
Starting in July, the following Audi models will be equipped with Dolby Atmos:
- Audi Q7
- Audi Q8
- Audi A8
- Audi e-tron GT
The Bang & Olufsen Premium 3D Sound System has been specially adapted to integrate with Dolby Atmos. The driver and front passenger can play tracks in Dolby Atmos directly and intuitively via the multimedia interface (MMI) using the Audi Application Store and integrated apps such as Amazon Music, Audible, and Tidal.
This strategic partnership positions both companies to send an important signal to the automotive industry that the driving experience can be further enhanced with immersive soundscapes and clarity. Dolby Atmos and Audi will be available in all Audi connect markets.
Dolby Laboratories is a global leader in immersive entertainment, transforming movies and TV, music, sports, gaming, and more with new pinnacles of clarity for billions worldwide across their favorite devices. The company partners with artists, storytellers, and brands to transform entertainment and digital experiences through innovations like Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, Dolby Cinema, and Dolby OptiView.
The news of Dolby’s collaboration with Audi comes hot on the heels of Apple’s introduction of a new format for head-tracking spatial audio, aptly named Apple Spatial Audio Format (ASAF). At WWDC 2025 last week, Apple quietly unveiled the technology in a session for app developers, promising the new format provides “truly immersive audio experiences.”
However, while Google and Samsung have been promoting their new Eclipsa Audio as a Dolby Atmos rival, Apple’s ASAF can deliver Dolby Atmos within the format, adding further spatial audio on top of it.
