Charlotte de Witte has made history once again.
Last year, the techno superstar became the first female artist to close out Tomorrowland’s main stage. Now, she’s accomplished the similar feat across the Atlantic Ocean at Detroit’s iconic electronic music festival, Movement.
On Sunday night, de Witte became the first woman to close out Movement’s main stage in the festival’s 23-year history. Prior to her electrifying set, she shared the news of the milestone with her fans.
“Tonight will be a very big night because i’m the first woman closing the main stage since the festival launched in 2000,” de Witte wrote. “I don’t take these things for granted and to be able to play even the smallest role in what women do for and in electronic music is incredibly humbling.”
Those in attendance at Techno City last weekend came out in droves for one of the biggest performances of de Witte’s career. The Movement crowd bore witness to a fantastic, 90-minute showcase of her dark and driving techno sound as she amassed one of the fest’s largest crowds.
Movement Festival took place May 27-19 at its longtime home, Detroit’s at Hart Plaza. In addition to de Witte, this year’s event featured performances by Underworld, Skrillex, Green Velvet, Bonobo, Kaskade, Robert Hood, Ben UFO and more.
