After footage of Bad Bunny grabbing a fan’s phone and throwing it surfaced online, the rapper addressed the incident on social media.

A video posted on Twitter shows the rapper walking along with his entourage in the Dominican Republic. A fan runs up and holds her phone up in front of them, trying to capture a selfie of herself with him. Bad Bunny snatches the phone from her grasp and throws it into a body of water. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, Bad Bunny addressed it on Twitter.

“The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me will always receive my attention and respect,” he says. “Those who come to put a f*cking phone in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise.”

Bad Bunny was the most streamed artist on Spotify, clocking 18.5 billion streams on the platform. Apple Music awarded the singer with its Artist of the Year award. He’s been the most-streamed musician on Spotify for three years running–the only artist to do so.

His fourth studio album, Un Verano Sin Ti, has spawned hits including “Me Porto Bonito,” “Moscow Mule,” and “Tití Me Preguntó.” The album is the first Spanish-language album to earn a nomination for the Album of the Year award at the 65th Grammy Awards in 2023.

Bad Bunny drew massive crowds in Mexico City, which caused issues with Ticketmaster rejecting legitimate tickets. Following the fiasco, the Mexican president asked the rapper to re-appear in the country so those who actually bought tickets could see him. He hasn’t responded to that request, but he did throw an impromptu concert on top of a gas station in Puerto Rico recently.
