As Spotify winds down its live radio ambitions, Amazon is amping up with a new morning show hosted by Nick Cannon.
Nick Cannon is joining Amp on April 24 as the host of ‘The Daily Cannon,’ a morning show co-hosted by Mason Moussette and Abby De La Rosa. The show will air M-F from 9am-12pm ET and 6am-9am PT. The new show is described as giving Cannon a platform to act as a cultural guide, headlining each show with personally curated R&B, hip-hop, and pop tracks, celebrity and culture news as well as interviews from artists, newsmakers, and other Amp creators.
“The Daily Cannon on Amp is an innovative take on radio programs, reimagined for a social-first live audience,” the press release reads. “With Amp, listeners can call in and chat with Cannon live on the app, creating a real-time connection between himself and his audience.”
“From his days at Wild ‘N Out to America’s Got Talent and his new Next Superstar Tour 2023, Cannon’s knack for identifying and developing emerging talent makes The Daily Cannon a destination for discovery. Spinning fresh tracks from his favorite emerging artists in R&B, hip-hop, and pop, Cannon will also interview artists who are bubbling up and showcase rising talent across music, sports, and pop culture.”
“I’m excited to be joining the next generation of live audio entertainment on Amp,” adds Nick Cannon. “Having a place where I can directly connect with listeners five days a week to spotlight the hottest emerging artists, chat about the latest and greatest in music and entertainment, and share real-time announcements in my world and beyond will make ‘The Daily Cannon’ a show you don’t want to miss.”
Amazon launched Amp as a competitor to Clubhouse in May 2022. The app allows anyone to create live radio shows where they can act as DJ by taking callers and playing tracks from the Amazon Prime Music catalog.
