6ix9ine Breaks Silence on Florida Gym Attack: ‘I’m Not Mad This Happened’

After days of silence, 6ix9ine is finally speaking out on his brutal gym attack.

On Friday, the controversial rapper reshared footage of the March 21 assault inside a Florida LA Fitness. The video shows a group of men kicking and punching 6ix9ine as he was curled on the floor of the men’s locker room. The Brooklyn native, born Daniel Hernandez, addressed the incident in a lengthy Instagram caption, saying the attack was “cowardly” but not surprising.

“First time addressing the situation,” he began. “For 2 years I been walking around with no security. Not saying I promote that BUT now you see I really never hid from anything.”

He went on to say that he’s often spotted in public completely alone, as he frequently goes to gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants without any security.

“Anyway what happen here was nothing but cowardly. I’m not mad this happened,” he continued. “In the street there’s no rules so I can’t say they were wrong. Obviously it wasn’t fair but again the streets has no rules. Just imagine having nothing to do to with a situation and feel obligated to make it your business. (Very weird).”

The artist says that he was simply happy to be alive, and thanked all his fans for all their love.

6ix9ine concluded his message by questioning the praise that’s been given to his suspected attackers.

“I never knew we respected jumping people,” he wrote. “When did that ever become a W???”

6ix9ine has received threats ever since he agreed to testify against alleged members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. His testimony led to multiple convictions, and helped reduce his sentence in a federal racketeering case. The highly publicized legal battle has drastically harmed 6ix9ine’s career, as he’s gone from a chart-topping rapper to one of hip-hop’s most hated “snitches.”

According to officials, the rapper was hospitalized with injuries sustained during the LA Fitness ambush. Three men have since been arrested in connection to the attack and now faces charges of assault and robbery.
