There’s so much good music out in the ether that sometimes it’s difficult to parse through all of it. Every week The Daily Music Report will do the hard work for you and highlight the best releases available on streaming services.

This week we’re highlighting new music from The Backseat Lovers, Guided By Voices, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard.

The Backseat Lovers – Waiting to Spill

Guided By Voices – Scalping the Guru

The latest full-length release from Dayton indie rockers Guided By Voices collects together songs from four EPs released between 1993 and 1994. Originally recorded on four-track, the collection is some of GBV’s most raw and unfettered music ever recorded. Consisting of the band’s classic lineup: Robert Pollard (vocals, guitar), Tobin Sprout (guitar), Mitch Mitchell (guitar), Greg Demos (bass), and Kevin Fennell (drums), the collection reminds you of the good old days prior to the band’s explosion into rock stardom.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard – Changes

Australian rockers King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are at it once again having released their fifth album of 2022. Changes is a 7-track album that pulls out all the stops. From pure prog to krautrock to elements of pop — this album has it all. First conceived back in 2017, the album was scrapped as the band felt the results were too “static.”
