Nick Cannon Calls Mariah Carey a ‘Gift From God,’ Recalls Relationship

Nick Cannon’s relationships have often made headlines, but Cannon admits nothing compares to his first love, Mariah Carey.

The father of 12 stepped into The Shade Room for an interview, providing details on his past relationship with the legendary singer. The interviewer asked The Masked Singer host who he considers the love of his life. “Like the greatest? I mean, I always talk about that,” Cannon said, referring to Carey.

He continued, “Then it goes viral, and our fans get mad at me. But I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife. And the fact that she’s the coolest person I ever met.”

He also praised the “It’s a Wrap” vocalist’s contribution to turning him into the man he is today. “I get a lot of this delightful disposition from her,” he said.

“She’s just always happy, always doing for others. No matter what’s happening in life. I’m like, ‘Wow, a person can really operate like that and don’t allow negative energy into they space,’” Cannon added.

“When I found that out about how remarkable she was, that woman is not human. She’s a gift from God.”

The two share 11-year-old twins, daughter Monroe and son Morooca.

This news comes as Carey is allegedly looking to file a full-custody arrangement for the kids. The two parents currently have co-custody. A source told Radar, “The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway. Nick doesn’t see much of them,” per Essence

“She wants to put him on notice that he can’t just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children, and she wants legal standing as the twins’ primary caregiver,” the source added.

The source does not name Cannon as a “bad” father but says he has many obligations regarding his other children.
