Actor Connor Weil chatted about being a part of “Acapulco” on Apple TV+ and the digital age.

He is known for playing Will Belmont in the first season of MTV’s “Scream,” and Mark McNair in the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”

On his experience in “Acapulco,” Weil said, “It was honestly one of my favorite sets I’ve ever been on. Not only were we shooting in beautiful Puerto Vallarta Mexico, but the cast was one of the most welcoming and fun casts I’ve ever worked with. So rare.”

Weil was drawn to his character Chad for several reasons. “I absolutely loved playing a 1980s frat boy. It’s always fun to do a period piece if you can call it the 80s period. Super fun decade to portray. Can you say pleated pants and blonde highlights?” he explained.

Inspirations and future plans

Regarding his daily inspirations as an actor and entertainer, he remarked, “The thing that inspires me is my family. I want my son to see his dad, live his life happily, and be successful in a creative career. And, as my wife is an accomplished theater and voice-over actress, she can tell when I’m bullshitting. She always challenges me to be my absolute creative best.”

On his future plans, Weil said “My wife and I just started our creative Producing company. We plan to film, write and well “create” our way to the next level.”

The digital age

He opened up about being an actor and artist in the digital age, especially at a time when streaming and technology are so prevalent. “The opportunities feel endless,” he exclaimed.

“So much content is being created that an actor gets to play so many different characters and act in so many different worlds. Not to mention reach a wider audience and connect with more fans,” he elaborated.

Advice for hopefuls

For young and aspiring actors, Weil said, “Have patience. Oh my God. It’s the hardest thing to learn. Things will work out when they’re supposed to. It’s the hardest thing to wait for but I promise, it will be perfect. You will celebrate that it happened for you when you were ready,” he said.

Weil listed Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as his dream acting partners in the entertainment business.

Dream Loud campaign

He had great words about Brad Everett Young’s Dream Loud campaign, which helps preserve art and music programs in schools. “So often when you’re working with photographers on a shoot there’s already a specific narrative in place. With Brad, he allows you to create your own narrative that he then amplifies and captures with his unique eye,” he said.

“Brad has created his own iconic style that so many people love and are drawn to. Since he first brought me on to the Dream Loud campaign in 2015, I have worked with him as often as our schedules have allowed,” he added.

Success

On his definition of the word success, Weil said, “Success to me is when you are happy and fulfilled. Not booking any tv shows yet? You’re successful when you’re the best actor you can be. Not at the financial place you wish to be? You’re successful when you are using your money as effectively as possible to help yourself grow. Sound cliché? That’s because it’s one of the hardest things to accept.”

“You won’t become ‘more successful’ than your current state if you’re constantly depressed about where you currently are,” he added.

Weil concluded about “Acapulco,” “It is about love and respect. Enjoying the moments that make up your life. It’s about celebrating the relationships you have with people along the way. And above all, respecting everyone’s journey. No matter what gender, race, age, and tax bracket.”
