Who is Sam Waterston’s wife, Lynn?

Fans have grown to love Sam Waterston as a staple of the Law and Order franchise, but few know that he is a loving father and husband.

Lynn Louisa Woodruff is Sam’s second wife. It’s unclear when or how they met, but the two tied the knot in 1976.

The actor married the former fashion model after divorcing his first wife and has been by her side for almost 50 years.

Lynn has appeared in various vintage editions of Vogue, Vogue Italia, and Cosmopolitan magazines.

Do they have kids?

Sam and Lynn share three adult children.

Their two daughters, Katherine and Elisabeth, are both actresses, while their son, Graham, is a film producer and director.

Katherine played Tina Goldstein in the 2016 film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

Her parents supported her by attending the premiere of the film in New York City.

Sam also has a son, James Waterston, with his first wife, Barbara.

James is also an actor best known for his role in the 1989 film Dead Poet’s Society.

Is Sam Waterston leaving Law & Order?

On February 2, 2024, it was announced that Sam Waterston was stepping down from his longtime role in Law and Order.

The 83-year-old actor will make his exit halfway into the 20th season of the show, which will premiere on February 22, 2024.

His character, Jack McCoy, will be replaced by a new district attorney, who will be played by Tony Goldwyn.

Goldwyn has worked on the Law and Order franchise before.

He played Frank Goren in a handful of episodes of Law and Order: Criminal Intent from 2007 to 2008.

His character was ultimately killed off, and he will now be playing a completely new character.
